Who should attend: All Math Educators Grades 3-5, including Teachers, Special Education Teachers, and Coaches in the grade levels.
The research is compelling: students sharing and debating ideas (academic discourse) is essential for student learning. The research is also clear that this type of student engagement doesn’t just happen. Generating and facilitating robust academic discourse is a learnable skillset.
In this one-day institute we will share specific techniques and structures that will enable you to have the rich student-to-student conversations that result in increased student learning and achievement and bring the joy back into teaching. As part of our work together, we will explore:
Video examples and transcripts as well as other useful tools and processes will be used in this hands-on, minds-on session that will equip you to immediately start to create a learning environment that is engaging, satisfying, and successful for you and your students.
