Who should attend: All Math Educators Grades K-5, including Teachers, Special Education Teachers, and Coaches in the grade levels.
Many educators feel confident and prepared for literacy conferences, but often are at a loss when conferring with students in mathematics. What is essential in conferring in mathematics? How do you know if your math conference was effective? For the past three years, one of Metamorphosis’ Teaching Learning Communities has been exploring these questions. In this institute, we will share some of the findings from our work. This institute is designed to support and empower educators to engage in math conferences more frequently and effectively. We will use video and audio case studies with transcripts to help participants (1) Explore different types of conferences and their purposes; (2) Analyze conferring moves to begin building their own toolkit; and (3) Consider the essentials for conferences.
