Yaa began her career as a middle school math teacher in the Bronx before transitioning to a Title 1 school in SE Washington, D.C. As a teacher leader, she led her math department through a pilot of a hybrid math learning lab. Her areas of expertise exist in coaching, teacher development and curriculum implementation. Yaa believes in building strong relationships that are collaborative, open, and honest with every teacher and leader she supports. Most recently, Yaa has led diversification efforts in Baltimore City by designing and managing a program for Black first-year teachers in Baltimore City Public Schools. Yaa is committed to being a change agent in all spaces she enters. Ultimately, Yaa’s mission is to ensure all students have access to teachers and instruction that creates opportunities and choices for their futures. In her free time, Yaa focuses on spending time with her family and finding opportunities to return home to Ghana.
