Coaches

Deyshawn began his career in education as a Middle School Math teacher, serving the Brownsville and Bed Stuy Brooklyn areas. During his time as a teacher, he took on many roles such as an Instructional Leader and Lead Lesson Planner for 7th grade Math. The exeprience in these roles eventually led him to become the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction. Within this role, he coached teachers on instructional practices, designed lesson plans, Interim Assesments, and co- led his school to gain administrative experience. 

Once Deyshawn left the classroom, he shared his mathematical practices with NYC Public Schools to help their pilot program of the Illustrative Math Algebra 1 curriculum. His core beliefs of math centers around meeting students where they’re at, and connecting relatable scenarios to push conceptual understandings.
