Mary McLeod Bethune writes, “We have a powerful potential in our youth, and we must have the courage to change old ideas and practices so that we may direct their power toward good ends.” Community education is a collective investment and a fundamental component to the work Ifeyinwa has done throughout her career. Ifeyinwa Anako earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Research from the University of Connecticut in 2008 and worked as a Lab Technologist before transitioning into community advocacy and education.

In 2012, Ifeyinwa was accepted into the New York Teaching Fellowship Program as a Special Education teacher and earned a Master of Science in Education from St. John’s University. Beginning her career as a middle school mathematics teacher, Ifeyinwa has served in a variety of capacities along her teaching journey, from Grade Team Leader and Mentor Teacher to Instructional Coach and Dean of Students. Outside of the classroom, Ifeyinwa has taken on additional roles creating Robotics programs at both Harlem Children’s Zone and Black Girls Rock in New York City.
