Dr. John Craven has a passion for engaging teachers and students in authentic and meaningful experiences in science across all age levels. John has been trained as a trainer for Project Wild, an environmental education curriculum for wildlife education, Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) and the GLOBE (Global Learning and Observation to Benefit the Environment) Program and has a particular interest in integrating environmental education, mathematics, technology, reading and writing in the science curriculum.

John has a Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of Iowa, a Master degree in Geological Sciences from the University of Memphis and Bachelor of Science degrees in Education and Animal Science from Memphis State University and the University of Connecticut, respectively. In addition to having taught secondary math and science in Bridgeport, CT, John has extensive teaching experience in informal environments including museums and zoos.  Past and present affiliations with institutions of higher education include Fordham University and Queens College/CUNY teaching preservice and inservice teachers of science across the K-12 band. John is also an accomplished author of national and international papers in science, science education and technology education. He has presented his work internationally in Ireland and Germany and extensively across the United States at national conferences including the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), and the American Educational Research Association Annual (AERA).
