Madonna believes that students learn math best when pushed to think critically about the processes in which they engage when problem solving. With a commitment to fostering students’ critical thinking skills in math, she has researched and incorporated into her practice inquiry-based methods of teaching that allow students to develop a conceptual understanding of Math.

Madonna began her career as an educator teaching Middle School and High School Math in New York City. She has also taught a Statistics course at the College of New Rochelle for several years. Madonna completed the Leaders in Education Apprenticeship Program through the Department of Education, where she received her School Building Leader Certificate.

While teaching, Madonna began her doctoral studies at Rutgers University, with a concentration in Education, Culture and Society. As a doctoral candidate, she has focused her studies on the positive impact of inquiry-based learning on student achievement. In 2014, Madonna became a content coach, improving math instruction in schools cross the city. She has combined her research-based knowledge and teaching experience to develop sound instructional coaching and professional development systems and structures to maximize results in the classroom.
