We will explore concrete examples of modeling that can engage students by directly relating the mathematics and statistics in this suite of lessons to problems facing our public health system in the US, and around the world. The models are designed for use with middle and high school, but can be used for undergraduate courses or public presentations.

At the workshop we will share:
- An in depth look at the introduction to pooled testing we recommend for this suite of lessons, the questions that it elicits, and the ways it can be used to guide a rich discussion relevant to the lessons in the suite that does not depend on prior knowledge of statistics.
- More time to explore the graphical interactives provided in the unit.
- Ways to extend the introductory material and offer students the opportunity to create and frame a problem to solve even before they engage in the materials in the unit.
- Ways to adapt the mathematical solutions to fit the medical or clinical purpose.
- Review of reading and writing assignments for students using publications appearing both in academic journals and general media in 2020 and 2021.
- Resources for those interested in Python programming of the robotic laboratory equipment being used today.
