CTLE Credits Available
In this hands-on session, we will:
- Explore how visual models and manipulatives can transform abstract concepts into concrete representations, bridging the gap between arithmetic thinking and algebraic reasoning
- Practice using multiple representations to help students develop deeper conceptual understanding of part-whole relationships and proportional reasoning
- Investigate how mathematical concepts evolve from Grade 6 foundational understanding through Algebra 1, tracing the progression from basic part-whole relationships to sophisticated exponential function modeling
- Learn strategies to shift instruction from procedural approaches to sense-making experiences that promote mathematical discourse and student agency
